HTNB Annual Year End Awards and Criteria
Past Award Recipients:
Canadian Equestrian Federation/NBEA Awards [ top ]
These are awards administered and awarded by the NBEA on behalf of the CEF (now Equine Canada). No online criteria available at this point.
HTNB Championship Awards (P,T,PT,S) [ top ]
- Must be a HTNB member to be eligible
- Horse/Rider combination must have successfully completed a minimum of 2 NB horse trials
- In the event of a tie, the lowest average pp score will be awarded
- Points are calculated as follows:
- 1st place = 6 points
- 2nd place = 5 points
- 3rd place = 4 points
- 4th place = 3 points
- 5th place = 2 points
- 6th place = 1 point
- *for preliminary only, half the number of points are awarded when there are less than ten entries
- PLUS 1 point for each successfully completed HT in or out of province where points were not awarded above
Awards of Excellence, Dinstinction and Merit [ top ]
Qualifications changed for 2004 season.
To Qualify for Awards of Excellence, Distinction and Merit, the rider/owner must be a member of HTNB.
Scores from Horse Trials both within NB and out of province are used. Scores can be from two consecutive
years but must be from the same horse/rider combination and at one level.
- Excellence - three scores of 70 penalty points or below are required
- Distinction - three scores of 90 penalty points or below are required
- Merit - three scores of 115 penalty points or below are required
Maritime Championship Award (P,T,PT) [ top ]
- Must be a HT member of home province to be eligible
- Points are calculated as per HTNB Annual Championship Awards using top 2 placings in home province plus top placing from out of home province
- In the event of a tie, the lowest average pp score will be awarded
- Each maritime province in turn will calculate points, fund, and present award (2002 NB, 2003 PEI,
2004 NS, etc.)
Sportsmanship Award (bi-annual, even years) [ top ]
- Any individual who promotes, encourages, and contributes to the sport of eventing
- Sponsored by Turning Point Stables

Most Promising Young Horse (bi-annual, even years) [ top ]
- Awarded to the most promising horse
- Horse must be new to the sport
- Rider/Owner must be a HTNB member to be eligible
